Leicester & District TUC

Leicester & District Trades Union Council (LDTUC) is the umbrella organisation of trade unions in Leicester and the surrounding area and was established in 1872. Unions affiliate to the organisation which meets once a month. Currently there are around 20 affiliated union branches, including Leicester UCU. Our AGM elects delegates who attend LDTUC meetings to represent the branch.

Each month LDTUC discusses issues of general interest to trade unionists, usually raised by affiliated branches. Recent discussions have included anti-trade union law and the Stansted 15. We invite speakers to our meetings and are also involved in local campaigns including Save our NHS Leicestershire.

LDTUC has sub-committees including those with interests in Health, Safety & Welfare and Equalities. Each sub-committee organises events including Workers Memorial Day, May Day and supports local events including Leicester Pride.

The current President of LDTUC is Chris Willars (PCS) and the Secretary is Sarah Seaton (UCU). More information can be provided by emailing the Secretary on sarah.seaton@gmail.com.
