UoL’s guidelines:
Leicester’s Industrial Action Formal Complaints page confirms that the University will proactively identify students who experienced disruption (“cancelled teaching … not rescheduled … or where learning outcomes are not delivered in other ways, or delayed assessment feedback”) and offer compensation via email.

Compensation is calculated using a standard formula based on missed teaching hours or delayed assessment feedback.
Students offered compensation must complete a claim form to accept the offer or submit information about additional losses.
Accepted offers are treated as full and final settlement for the identified disruption.
The Student Compensation & Refund Policy states students may raise further claims or complaints if needed.
Claims must normally be made within 3-months. Refunds will be credited to the original fee-payer and the Student Loans Company will be notified if necessary. Once agreed, the refund will be processed within 14-days.
When completing a claim be as detailed as possible. Be module specific, reference UoL’s policies directly, keep evidence.

How to Make a Claim:
If necessary, the Formal Complaint Structure:
Subject: Compensation claim for industrial action – [Your Name] – [Your Student ID]
If all internal processes at UoL are exhausted and you are not satisfied with the outcome, take your case to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator
This can be done within 12-months of UoL issuing the student a Completion of Procedures Letter. It usually takes 3-6 months for the OIA to conclude a case. They can deem the complaint ‘justified’, ‘partly justified’, ‘not justified’ or ‘settled’.
