Subject: Urgent Call for Dialogue with UCU – Protect Our Education

To: vc@le.ac.uk

Dear Professor Canagarajah,

I am writing as a student at the University of Leicester to express my deep concern regarding the ongoing industrial action and the circumstances that have led to it.

The proposed redundancies and departmental cuts pose a serious threat to the quality of education and academic diversity at our university. I am particularly worried about the impact this will have on my learning experience, the well-being of staff and the long-term reputation of Leicester as a centre of excellence.

As a result of the strike action, I and many of my peers are missing valuable lectures, seminars, and academic support. These disruptions are affecting our ability to learn, prepare for assessments, and to engage fully with our studies. We understand that staff are taking this action reluctantly and out of a commitment to the future of our university.

I hope that you can engage in meaningful and transparent dialogue with UCU to resolve this dispute. A constructive resolution is in the best interest of students, staff and the institution as a whole.

Sincerely,
